Term: | Form for Russian post participles?
Should the masculine form be entered or all forms?
Answer: | For the time being, please only post the major form. | #454441 |
I'm going to add extra single-language functionality to take care of inflected forms. Please see http://forum.dict.cc/forum-questions/detail-453109-Guidelines-%C3%8... for more information!

I got mixed up. It has been a while since I reviewed Russian grammar. Past particples in Russian come in three flavors: active adjectival, passive adjectival, and adverbial. No gender difference. Anyway, I do not know which of the three would be considered the major form. http://www.alphadictionary.com/rusgrammar/particip.html Maybe the infinitive of the verb should be viewed as the major form. That conflicts with rules in the German-English dictionary, however, where lots of verb conjugations have been entered. .
Answer: | Generally speaking, I would consider the shortest form the basic form. | #454522 |
The best practice might be looking up terms in one or more (paper) dictionaries to see the lemma.
