"Eavesdrop" translation » answer
by Benson Berkeley, 2013-09-16, 14:11  Spam?  77.122.28...
I'm looking for a native Russian speaker to translate the lyrics of The Civil Wars' "Eavesdrop." I want the beauty and romance to be preserved in the translation. It doesn't need to keep syllables the same, I'm not singing the translated words with music.

Here are the English lyrics:

I don't want to talk right now
I just want your arms wrapped around
me and this moment before it runs out

Oh, don't say that it's over
Oh, no, say it ain't so
Let's let the stars watch, let them stare
Let the wind eavesdrop, I don't care
For all that we've got, don't let it go
Just hold me

I can't pull you closer than this
It's just you and the moon on my skin
Oh, who says it ever has to end

Oh, don't say that it's over
Oh, no, say it ain't so
Let's let the stars watch, let them stare
Let the wind eavesdrop, I don't care
For all that we've got don't let go

Let's let the stars watch let them stare
Let the wind eavesdrop I don't care
For all that we've got don't let go
Just hold, just hold me
Just hold me
Just hold me
Just hold me

Tattoo » answer
by Fmtaweh (UN), 2013-08-31, 13:43  Spam?
Hello everybody,
I'm about to have a new tattoo and I was wondering whether anyone can help me out translating this small paragraph:
For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.
My friend who happened to be Ukrainian helped me out,
Однажды когда ты почувствовав высоту пройдешь по всей земле смотря на небеса
Ведь там ты был и туда будешь стремится вернуться
I want to make sure that what she did sounds the same as the original or if you have any other suggestions.
Cheers!

Если ты испытал, что такое летать, ты будешь ходить по земле с глазами, обращёнными к небу, поскольку ты там уже побывал, и будешь стремиться туда вернуться.

There is a common phrase in English. "What goes up, must come down"

I was wondering if this was translatable into Russian and if it is a popular phrase there as well

Thanks!
