Rights are given and rights are received » answer
by maricom (RU), 2011-04-04, 16:39  Spam?
Текст был юридический (конвенция по правам), и в конце, после выражения официальной благодарности всем, принимавшим участие в этом деле, идет вот такое:

Rights are given and rights are received.

Что бы это значило?

Здравствуйте, Maricom.
Могу только дословно перевести эту фразу. Что эта фраза означает... Вам виднее. Я подозреваю, что это цитата из какого-то известного документа (типа - конвенции о правах, Конституции ... и т.д.)
Переводится так: "Права дают, и права получают".

The only thing I could find out about this, was, that this name is used for the apple variety "денешта" (read deneshta) in some Ukrainian regions. Unfortunately I could not find how "денешта" could be translated in English or what is it's Latin name.

It would be unusual for a cultivated crossbred variety of fruit or flower have a separate LATIN name at all.

Re: "Users want to change votes...." #520140 http://forum.dict.cc/  » answer
by Serge (RU/UA), 2010-05-24, 00:54  Spam?
----On the RU-EN dictionary here, there are a few users who like to change other peoples' inputs by adding bunches of Russian stuff in brackets after a majority of the entries that are submitted onto this site, and I'm getting a bit frustrated by it.  What is wrong with the original entry?  Why does all this extra stuff have to be added on? To me, it seems like people are adding in synonyms for the term that they are voting on to the entry----

In most cases, it is synonyms that are added in brackets. But not full synonyms. Synonyms that are added, convey connotations that are needed for more precise understanding of a word or a phrase. For example, the word pairs "авария - crash" and "авария - breakdown" would be incomplete without some comments on the Russian side. Why? Well, which word should we choose...

A name for a Russian Blues CATTERY in Australia » answer
by romy (CZ/AU), 2009-11-23, 05:44  Spam?
Hello, I'm calling in from the German-English society. Can somebody please help me to choose a good name to register my cattery? I own two pure-bred RUSSIAN BLUE queens (cats) and want to start breeding with them soon. The rules of the Australian Breeder's Club are that the name of the cattery must be ONE word only. I thought of transscribing the Russian term for "beauty" or "royalty" into English. Would this one work:
krasanisha ?
http://deru.dict.cc/?s=Sch%C3%B6nheit
http://enru.dict.cc/?s=beauty
There are no entries in dict.cc for "royalty" yet. Can anybody give me a hint?

The Russian for the colour "royal blue" is:
королевский синий
korolevski sini.
Yes, I know it's two words; could they be juggled?
Or you might look at

transliteration of "beauty" and "royal" from Russian into English  #477778
by Serge (RU/UA), 2009-11-23, 18:11  Spam?
The correct transliteration of "beauty" from Russian into English looks like this: "krasavitsa". If you want to give this name to a cattery, you should capitalise the initial letter "k": "Krasavitsa".
As far as "royalty" is concerned, it can be similarly transliterated as follows: "Koroleva". "Koroleva" is actually "queen" but, if I got you right, you have to use only one word, so you have to resort to some word juggling to fit into this rule. Otherwise it is impossible to translate "royal" by means of a single word.

by marycherry (RU), 2009-10-19, 15:15  Spam?
I woud like to know why I cannot record my voice. When I choose language it opens a new page where I can only read the following <Your voice recording will be publicly available at dict.cc. It will be checked after submission and may be deleted in case of quality problems. You can also delete your recordings anytime.
Thanks for your contribution!> But I don`t see any play or pause buttons. My audio settings are ok and I am able to record. Looking forward to getting a reply.
Best regards.

Please use the German forum for questions about guidelines, at least for the time being, as most of the discussions about rules are the same for German and English and we need to discuss them in one place.
